The Clink has teamed up with the Albrighton Community Fridge on London’s East Dulwich Estate, which provides food and other essentials for people who are struggling to feed themselves and their families.
£10 buys a two-course meal for the Albrighton Community Fridge. A main dish and a dessert prepared by The Clink’s trainees at HMP Brixton, delivered to the Albrighton Fridge by the Clink@Home team.
These meals will be given away to people who are struggling to feed themselves and their families.
The Albrighton Community Fridge feeds 350 people a day. It’s open from 1pm to 4pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, is staffed by volunteers and runs on donations from local residents and businesses. Many people travel a long way to use the fridge and the number of visitors continues to increase week on week as jobs are lost and businesses close.
The fridge offers fresh fruit and vegetables, frozen meat, bread, tinned goods and a limited selection of sanitary products. But what visitors really want is a hot meal. For many users, the prepared food they receive from The Clink will be the only proper meal they eat all day.
